Bonnie in the leaf pileAbout Us...

We welcomed our first Bichon into our home in 1996 and immediately fell in love. We appreciated how gentle she was with our children, then 1 ½ and 3. Within a few years we became interested in breeding and added a second then a third Bichon to our family.

Our girls have grown up with our dogs as their playmates. The dogs have cheerfully tolerated being dressed up, rocked in cradles, walked in strollers and visiting the kid's "beauty parlor"  from which they emerged with an odd assortment of hair-do's. We have experienced first hand what wonderful family dogs these are.

As our girls have grown, so has the quality of our Bichons. While we loved the personalities of our first dogs, we quickly came to realize that we wanted to improve on their looks and conformation. With this in mind, we carefully and selectively improved our bloodlines and quality. We are pleased to say that our Bichons are consistently high quality with beautiful coats and healthy bodies, while still retaining that personality we love.

Our family now enjoys competing in conformation trials and  junior handling. It is rewarding to see our dogs and kids succeed in the show ring.

Today, we are proud to offer both companion and show/breeding bichons to select homes. At Blackwater Bichons we breed for quality, not quantity.
